1969 Dodge Charger 500 for sale
Exotic Classics is proud to present an extremely rare, rotisserie restored 1969 Dodge Charger 500. This work of art is finished in B5 Bright Blue with a blue interior. The car features a 426 HEMI, 4-speed transmission, blue bucket seats, Hurst shifter, power steering, 4.10 geared Dana rear axle, and the tick-tok tach & clock combo. This Charger is numbers matching numbers and is investment quality.
The Charger 500 was introduced to compete in NASCAR for the 1969 season. Developed to improve aerodynamics with a flush mounted Coronet grill and a sloped rear window, there were only 580 built to meet the production requirement. Of those cars, only 119 were 426 Hemi cars and this car is one of two known to exist with a four-speed, B5 blue paint, matching blue interior and white tail stripe. The 426 Hemi is the dual-quad version which produces 425 horsepower. Its fitting that this wonderful Charger was purchased in 1970 by Lieutenant Commander David Roark, a Naval Combat Pilot who had just returned from flying combat missions in Vietnam. This Hemi, 4-speed behemoth was sitting on the Dodge dealers lot in Jacksonville, Florida where it had just been traded-in. David Roark purchased the car for just under $4,000 and used it until 1985 as his daily driver. It was subsequently put away during the 1990s while David Roark pondered whether he would restore the car. Around 2005, the car was sold and in 2006, Lieutenant Commander David Roark passed away in a plane accident. This Charger was owned by a true patriot.
Recently the car was rotisserie restored to perfection by Ken Mosier of the Finer Details. It has won many high level awards and shows over the years, including Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals, Good Guys Chronicles Finalist, Concours dElegance and the MCACN show in Chicago, where it scored a 997 out of a possible 1000 points.
The next owner will own an iconic and rare piece of American muscle car history.
